Wheely Tots has a small team and we welcome volunteers to help us reach more families. You don’t have to be a cycling expert, there are lots of ways you can get involved. Register your interest here.
Wheely Tots is committed to the London Volunteer Management Charter. You can read the Charter here.
Given the social distancing policies and Covid – 19 we are rapidly creating remote volunteering opportunities for our corporate and other volunteers and examples include;
Photograph tagging and editing – this takes us ages and we can always do with a hand so when we are looking for photos to put in reports to funders or on social media we can search quickly (we have over 1000 and we know it takes at least 4 mins per photo to do this job effectively)
Create social media posts and press releases – we have loads of lovely stories and emails that are all waiting to be shared in the future and thinking of fun and creative ways to write posts is helpful as is helping out with some of the nitty gritty techy stuff.
Funding applications and letters to Trusts – we know its better to send one really good application rather than 10 mediocre ones and we can always benefit from a fresh pair of eyes to review our applications and even have a go at crafting some yourself. These skills you can then apply to other community projects near your home.
Strategising and thinking – we spend so much of our time just “doing” and delivering that questions like “What should we be doing in 5 years time?” or “How should we best market our online offerings” and “How can we apply best practice principles and policies from other countries to our session delivery?” are examples of where an outside perspective is super helpful and refreshing.
So whatever your skill set we’re keen to work with you to create a positive and rewarding volunteering experience that you can feel energised and refreshed when you return to your day to day routine.
How Can I Help?
Want to gain experience with children and families? Offer an extra pair of hands at our parent and toddler balance bike sessions
You will support our session leader to deliver activities, take photos, record feedback from participants, and generally lend a hand.
Want to get to know your local area better? You can help us identify family friendly locations and deliver leaflets in the local area.
Like meeting new people? Visit family friendly locations and ask parents/families to answer a short questionnaire about the activities they enjoy and what they would like to do.
Family Cycling Ambassador
Already a keen cyclist? Want to encourage others to cycle more? Become a Family Cycling Ambassador and share tips and advice on cycling safely.
